Treasure Lake is a small town that takes pride in its community and beautiful natural scenery. It is a private gated community covering more than 12 square miles of scenic land and water. The Pennsylvania State Capital Harrisburg is less than 120 miles away, while the city of DuBois is less than 8 miles north. Located within the county of Clearfield, the area is a safe haven to raise a family or enjoy retirement.
Treasure Lake is uniquely connected to the famous lumber mogul who began the city of Dubois, John DuBois. John E. DeBois Junior, nephew of the lumber tycoon, established the area of Treasure Lake and originally named the lake after his wife Rene. However, when the Great Northern Development Company was sold the property, where homes in Treasure Lake are located today, the area and lake became known for its current name. Today, the area is also known for its beautiful lodging and campsites, taverns, restaurants, and leisure venues.
Although its population is small, there is no shortage of parks and recreational opportunities near Treasure Lake. In fact, locals enjoy year-round access to outdoor sports, swimming, and nearby marinas. Some of the most frequented beaches within the area include Bimini Beach, New Providence Beach, and Trinidad Beach. Fishing, boating, and water skiing are great pastimes for people visiting Treasure Lake and Little Flipper Lake, while horseback riding is something to do if you are ever at Treasure Lake Horse Stables. Those that love hunting and shooting can contact the nearby Pennsylvania State Gamelands and the Treasure Lake Sportsman’s Club. Captain Kidd Park, Cayman Landing, and other beaches provide picnic pavilions, mini golf and shuffleboard and playgrounds.
The beautiful country club setting that one will find in Treasure Lake, is a fishermen’s paradise. The area provides anglers with stocks, including blue gills, catfish, white crappie, perch, and pike. However, locals enjoy taking their kids to the 12-acre trout-filled Children’s Fishing Lake. Other activities and attractions in Treasure Lake include hiking and biking on various trails, tennis, and a driving range. The community’s elegant resorts, nearby Punxsutawney Gobbler’s Knob, and the Allegany National Forest, are also famous local attractions the public may enjoy and appreciate.
Treasure Lake is home to local events such as wedding expos, Mardi Gras celebrations, and holiday festivities. Locals enjoy festivities at the Winterfest and Christmas Craft Show, the Wine-ee Women at Lakeview Lodge, and the Clearfield YMCA Winter Family Fun Festival. However, the Treasure Lake Car Show, the Annual Cayman Event, and Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous in Ridgway, provide additional events for the whole family to go to as well. The Dubois Festival of the Arts, the Brockway Old Fashion Fourth of July, and Clearfield County Fair are also exciting annual events in Treasure Lake.
